Southern Tier Imperial Pumpking

I am never really big on seasonal beers and usually stay away from most pumpkin flavored beers, because I truly just don’t enjoy pumpkin flavored things. Lindsey picked this beer up tonight in order to try something a little different, and after seeing a 98% online I was very intrigued. I have never had a Southern Tier beer before therefore I don’t have much to compare it too, so I cant judge the company on one seasonal beer. Like the other pumpkin beer I have tried, this one is VERY strongly flavored. The smell, the first taste and the after taste all hit you like you dove into a spiced pumpkin pie. The thing I dislike about the beer isn’t so much of the pumpkin flavor and more that it is hard to be refreshed by it. I can’t take a nice, long sip and feel the coolness of the beer because the flavor is so overwhelming. The color of this beer is pumpkin orange. There is truly no other way to describe it. It has a really nice glow to the color and just looking at it I would say it is a very nicely colored beer, not to light not to dark. Next time I go to the store I will probably pass by this beer, but I can’t say if I see another Southern Tier I wont try it because of this one. Any beer made with this nice of a color and the cool of a bottle deserves a good taste test.
