Green Flash Hop Head Red

I choose Hop Head Red for Lindsey tonight because she has become a large fan of IPA's and has always been drawn to trying fruity beers and never really "loving" one. So I thought she should try a red IPA since she has never tried this style before. I'm not sure if she was underwhelmed because of this beer or she was just so drawn to the Skull Splitter everything else seemed inferior. Now don't get us wrong, this is a very good Red IPA. I just don't believe that is our style. Although I have had some in the past that truly taste like alcoholic grapefruit juice, this beer has a light hint of orange and strawberry flavors while still tasting "like a beer" (most of you who have tried fruity beers will understand that). I truly think this beer is one of the better red IPA's I have had, but it is not my favorite. Unlike a traditional IPA this beer has a very low hop flavor with a hint of fruit. It gives off a decent aftertaste of hops, but doesn't give you that instant "this is an IPA" taste.  I probably would not buy this beer again only because I am just not a huge fan of red IPA's. Lindsey is open to the idea to try more and wouldn't say this beer is bad, but definitely not her favorite. Now for the color, it has a nice dark red color with not to much light passing through it. Looks like it may be a strike out again on getting Lindsey "the right" fruity beer.
